LATHERS RECRUIT APPRENTICES
Metallic Lathers & Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local Union #46
The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Metallic Lathers and Reinforcing Ironworkers, Local Union #46, will conduct a recruitment from July 14, 2025, through July 25, 2025, for 50 Lather (Wood, Wire, and Metal) apprentices, as announced by the New York State Department of Labor.
Important Note: The 50 apprentice openings are the total number for the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New York City regions.
How to Apply
- When: Monday through Friday, July 14–July 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- Where: Metallic Lathers & Reinforcing Ironworkers Local 46 Learning Center 61-02 32nd Avenue, Woodside, NY 11377
- Deadline to Return Applications: Must be received by August 11, 2025
Note: Applications are only available in person. A valid photo ID is required to receive an application and to take the physical fitness test.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency (GED, TASC)
- Be physically able to perform the work, as determined by:
- Physical fitness test conducted by Local 46, including:
- Carrying/moving reinforcing rods
- Performing push-ups and pull-ups
- Verbal statement confirming ability to:
- Wear a 25–50 lb safety belt for a full day
- Carry 50–150 lb steel rods for a full day
- Climb and perform strenuous physical activity over a full day
- Pass a drug screening (provided at no cost, post-selection)
- Provide military transfer card or DD-214 form, if applicable
